The results will include provision of clean water, shelter, relief kits and psychosocial support (goal, at least 600 families) in three heavily impacted areas: Nippe, Sud and Grand Anse, based on priority needs defined by families and communities; the approach – community mobilization.

The effort-

  • The emergency effort is managed and implemented by a Haitian organization (Wozo Haiti) -Wozo Haiti (OWHA) a non-political, Haitian initiative created after the 2010 earthquake, experienced in providing immediate and recovery support, working with communities and vulnerable families in a participatory way toward longer term sustainability.
  • WOZO Haiti is directed by Garly Michel, who worked with the relief response of the Mennonite Central Committee in 2010 and studied trauma and resilience at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding, Eastern Mennonite University.
  • HDPI, Inc is a USA registered not-for-profit global humanitarian network holding a 501c3 status. It supported and helped manage grants to Wozo for three years after the previous earthquake.  On the basis of past experience and trust, HDPI will serve again as the recipient of funds for the Wozo emergency response and support them in accountability of funding and reporting.
