Dr. Daniel Beers is an Associate Professor of Justice Studies at James Madison University. His research and teaching focus on migration and refugee protection, poverty alleviation, and humanitarian action, with a special emphasis on aid localization and community-led development.
Dr. Daniel Beers is an Associate Professor of Justice Studies at James Madison University. His research and teaching focus on migration and refugee protection, poverty alleviation, and humanitarian action, with a special emphasis on aid localization and community-led development. Beers has conducted field research and led off-campus study programs in a variety of international settings, including Haiti, Romania, Ukraine, Turkey, and Jordan. He is the co-founder and executive director of Resources to Resources, a small non-profit that supports locally-led humanitarian and development solutions in disaster-affected communities in Haiti. He is also involved in a number of refuge-serving initiatives in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
